I find joy in the process of making. That fill-me-up-and-pour-me-another-cup kinda bubbly energy. That buzzy hum in my bones. That's the gold stuff.
My passion for DIY was cemented early on. From crafting to sewing to updating old furniture, I grew up making things alongside my mom. A masterful quilter and seamstress, she had an epic craft closet filled to the brim with all the supplies I needed to create my own magic. I loved playing with fabric scraps and buttons, piecing together different arrangements of color, texture, and pattern. I still get that giddy, tingly rush when I see and touch beautiful material.
Owning my first house, a fixer upper, has given me the biggest canvas yet on which to explore and hone my design aesthetic, learn new skills, and enjoy the process of turning this house into my home. I quickly switched gears from curious observer to blood-sweat-tears do-er as I dove head first into restoring my 1945 bungalow in a loving, thoughtful way that remains true to its roots while reflecting my personal style.
My path has been filled with many pivots and transitions in the pursuit of work that lights me up.
In college, I switched from studying engineering at University of Colorado Boulder to earning my BA in Art History from the University of Texas at Austin. I studied Italian and lived abroad in Rome for a summer, deepening my appreciation for the history of a place and stunning architectural details. After college, I dabbled in the art museum world and pursued the music festival and event production industry before landing at Tito’s Handmade Vodka.
During my 9+ years Tito’s, I built the social media program from the ground up and managed the website and email marketing, growing their digital followers to over half a million and fueling the brand’s meteoric rise to the top-selling spirit in America.
Now, I'm pivoting again to start my own business and pursue my passion for creating. Creating things with my hands. Creating content and digital strategy. Creating a space to share. Creating a real estate portfolio. Creating a life of my own design.
This is my journey of fueling that spark and burning bright.
I love research. I love a good plan. It's easy to get caught up in those stages. Sometimes just the the first action step is all the momentum needed to get going.
Reminding the achiever in me that being a beginner is okay. Trying new things and building new skills along the way is what will get me to where I want to go. Fail forward.
I'm learning to celebrate the journey and enjoy the process not just the end result. It's the making of the things, all the time and effort that goes into it, that's where the magic happens.
